Okay haven been here in a while. From the last time i posted till now, I learnt some thai, spent 37 days in thailand on fieldstudies with a bunch of awesome people, went out a lot with my FS friends in july, went clubbing the first time too at zouk, presented one of my fs project at a dept seminar, finished a semester of school and completed 2 half marathons. The best thing that happened, was definitely fs. haha, i plan to write something on my fs experiences sometime soon. Don’t wanna forget the amazing and happy times in thailand.

This sem marks my last semester as a kid before i turn 21. Not sure how the results will turn out. The exams were a pretty mixed bag. On one hand, i made it  a point to put in much effort as i could for my CAs and made it a point to finish the readings and complete my revision before the exams. Did finish the revision though but still there were qsns which i didn’t know during the exams which was disappointing. It would be nice to get a few As, i hope i can. But the greatest concern is that the cap and sjap don’t fall. I guess i’ll be happy as long as the cap improves and the sjap is maintained, although if my sjap improves, i’ll be even happier.

The most challenging module i have done so far has got to be urban space, an honours module which jado and me bravely took up as cute little year 3s. At the beginning of the sem, there was definitely this psychological barrier which was made more difficult by the fact that some of the readings were quite hard to digest. Fortunately, towards the end of the sem, i felt that i was better able to grasp the key concepts and have a better idea of the stuff taught. Luckily i met pow and dr collins to clarify some of my doubts too. Hopefully i’ll do alright for this module.

Heard some good news this week regarding the honours yr. Haha. I hope i can make it to honours year man. Most of my friends think i’ll be in the hons class but i myself am not so sure. Sometimes you’ll never know for such things. Still,  I’ll give my best and keep working hard, thats for sure.

My legs are aching like crazy from the half marathon on sun. And my shoulders are sunburnt too! Interestingly, most people wore the new balance event shirt. Ha! I thought last year’s one looked better so i wore it instead. I think my timing for sun’s marathon is more than 3 hours, way below the personal best i set in aug. But its alright, loved the new route and the atmosphere especially towards the end. Hope the official photographers got some nice photos of me running. Might consider doing the full marathon nxt yr but thats nxt yr! I like those cool looking compression tights.

Exams are finally over, phew! I think my c ap and perhaps sja p’s is gonna drop. Yea, prepared for the worse already. My grades are borderline so i guess i have to continue trying really hard next year so i can do honours.  Anyway, Fs’s coming up with some dumbass thai classes. Luckily swine flu seems to have become less serious so its still on! For a start, I  hope i won’t struggle with it like i did for german a long time ago.

Saturday i followed some students from taiwan around tiong bahru. I didn’t know tiong bahru has quite interesting houses! There was a guide telling our taiwan friends about housing in tiong bahru, i think it would be useful to listen but i was more interested in testing out my new camera :p Thereafter we split up and i went with 2 students to the marina barrage with boon k ian, concidentally the guy whom i was with when we went to little india last yr with another group of taiwan friends. Feel quite bad i couldn’t tell them more about the marina barrage or at least about singapore’s water management strategies. The most i could share with them was i ran across the barrage while running a half marathon last yr but i don’t think its even helpful for their assignment. Too bad!

The barrage has changed a lot since the first time i visited it while running the half marathon. Then, everything was just newly completed and the visitor’s centres and all those fancy educational stuff were not ready. When i visited it, it was a hive of activity with lots of people. Not my ideal hangout on an idle day. haha. I’m really looking forward to this yr’s army half. The flag off’s time at 5.30 so i have to figure out how to get there by then. Time to hit the ground running!

I have had enough rest. Its fun to finish 2 important papers on the first 2 days of exams and have 9 days till the next major paper. Gender was bad, hope i will at least get a b. Luckily tourism dvt was alright, i hope the asnswers i prepared for the past yr paper are correct. Pray that i’ll do well for td and env sust, the 2 geog mods which i put in effort for. Well, in the course of mugging for these 2 papers, i realized that my interest in geog lies in migration and tourism! Hope i make it to hons yr, then i can write a thesis on either topic :) Gender is not my thing i suppose but i enjoyed the module in the sense that it really helped me understand better why geog is the study of space. And i found feminist methodology useful because they approach research in a reflexive way, critiquing and analysing everything in the course of the research.

Now its time for to go into intensive studying mode again, considering i haven touched the readings for this ps module. And it would be dumb to throw this module away since i got more than a week to study. So yup. And i promised myself that after lousy gender on monday, i’ll make up for it by studying extra hard for this paper. So yeah!
